The Leadership Group
Creating Tomorrow's Leaders
"PMI's Leadership Institute (of which I graduated in 2004) is a wonderful platform for developing, honing and sharing all things
leadership.  Although the core of the Institute is its membership, and each class is merely a mosaic of its participants, every
group of people who gather to explore a common goal benefits from having a facilitator who knows when to step up and when
to step down; knows how to lead and how to be led; knows how to involve everyone and knows that he, at the same time, is
part of the group but not one of the group.  Jerry Brightman is such a facilitator.  Jerry does not purport to be the guru that so
many others claim to be, but rather he adds the collective experience and expertise of the class to his own to weave an
experience that is unique and amazing.  In my professional opinion, Jerry should continue his work with PMI and I truly hope he
is successful with his proposal."

"We had the rare privilege of being in you Leadership Institute in two successive classes (LI’04 & LI’05).  Though we are
constantly learning in our lives and professions, it was your wisdom, experience and guidance that brought us to a new, higher
level. You tailored the course material not only for particular classes, but for a particular individual, considering his or her
individual background, style and level of knowledge. Your classes are not a simple information delivery, but encouragement and
guidance for personal and leadership development that lasts. We are highly recommending your classes as the best way to
personal and organization growth."

Peter Dimov, LI'04
Petya Alexandrova, LI'05
"LI05 is a great personal experience. (Note the present tense because it continues ) That alone is easy to say, but is important that
it is believed, because that is what will make it easier to keep this class a key piece of building leadership at PMI.  It is a learning
experience that makes you think about leadership in action rather the leadership in theory; leadership in your life rather than
leadership isolated at your job. It introduces you to others from a similar mindset and challenges you to create a community (a
very powerful concept) of learners and leaders. I love a class that gives me a  tool or a technique I can take back and apply. LI
gives you a direction and challenges you to GO."

"Jerry Brightman provided the vision and direction for the former Leadership Institute now being reconstituted as the Leadership
Institute Masters program.  Jerry's brings world-renown knowledge in leadership to his programs and his ability to translate and
transfer that knowledge to the Leadership Institute students comprised one of the key components of success of the previous
program.  If the students were the heart of the Leadership Institute Jerry was the soul.  I give him my highest recommendation
for the facilitator position for PMI's Leadership Institute Master's Program."

"I am a graduate of the 2004 Class of the PMI Leadership Institute taught/mentored by Dr Jerry Brightman.  It is a benchmark
in my professional career and appears proudly on my CV along with my degrees.

As most of my peers, I went into this experience expecting lectures, lists and tests about leadership.  Instead, I came out a
Leader with a better understanding of who I am, who I am not, and a better understanding of whom I can become.  I am a
better leader and a better person for this experience.

The Institute has re-energized my passion for becoming a Leader for PMI and I have a strong desire to re-pay PMI for this
experience with more effective volunteerism.  This journey of Leadership as presented by Jerry is unique and can not be
duplicated because it comes from within who he is and how he relates to others.  I only wish that all 250,000 of our members
could have this same journey."

"My Leadership Institute experience (class of '03) was an eye opener by letting me see that I can play bigger, bolder and
occupy a larger stage.  Through our experience together, with my classmates and under your able, thoughtful and kind
guidance, I was able to connect with my strengths and see how I can make a difference -- in my consultancy, with my clients
and in my family.  Yes, leadership is a full-time job and an "equal-opportunity opportunity".

Jerry, I am delighted to hear that you will be helping us as we continue our journey.  Your work and your way of working with
us had a significant impact on me.  I fully intend to re-engage (already have... as a member of the PMI Board Nominating
Committee) and continue my learning and sharing.

I know I will grow and I am quite certain that PMI and the profession will grow as a result of our efforts as a community."

"I am a retired military officer who rose from the enlisted ranks and had over 26 years leadership experience in the Navy as
well as experience as a foreman of a dairy where I supervised over 30 men prior to my Naval service.  I have been involved as
a leader in professional and community associations for over 20 years.  When I attended the first PMI Leadership Insititute,
which was facilitated by Dr. Jerry Brightman, I was a little bit skeptical, however, it was a growing and learning experience.  I
cannot say the I learned that much about leadership that I did not already know or practice, however, it gave me an
opportunity to examine my fundamental beliefs regarding myself and my view on what motivates others.  I cannot think of
anyone who would not benefit from attendance at the Leadership Insititute."
